Money Advice

Building a Strong Financial Future
At the Thabiso Monyane Foundation, we believe financial freedom begins with education, discipline, and purpose. Whether you’re a young athlete, student, or entrepreneur, understanding how money works is the first step toward long-term success both on and off the field.
1. Start with a Plan
Create a monthly budget that tells your money where to go not the other way around. Track your income, expenses, and savings goals. Financial discipline starts with knowing what you earn and where it’s spent.
2. Save Before You Spend
Set aside at least 10–20% of your income every month. Whether it’s from your first job, match bonuses, or small business profits consistency builds wealth over time. Remember, saving is not about how much you make, but how much you keep.
3. Avoid Lifestyle Inflation
As your income grows, don’t let your spending grow faster. Live below your means and invest the difference. True success is when your money works for you, not when you work for your money.
4. Invest in Your Future
Start investing early in education, retirement, and opportunities that grow over time. Understand your investment options, including unit trusts, retirement annuities, and property. Seek advice from trusted financial professionals before making big decisions.
5. Emergency Fund
Always have a safety net at least 3 to 6 months’ worth of living expenses saved for emergencies. This protects you from debt when life throws unexpected challenges your way.
6. Avoid Unnecessary Debt
Use credit wisely. Debt for consumption (clothes, gadgets, luxury cars) drains your wealth. If you must borrow, do so for assets that grow in value not for things that lose it.
7. Give Back
Generosity multiplies purpose. Use your success to uplift others through giving, mentorship, and community support. Financial success means little without positive impact.
8. Think Long-Term
Short careers, especially in sports and entertainment, require long-term planning. Build a vision beyond the field — education, business, and investments are your next stage.

 Our Commitment
